After an extensive search and selection process since spring of 2019, the South of Market Child Care Inc. (SOMACC) Board of Directors selected one of our organization's own, Jennifer De Palm, to take up the torch as the new SOMACC Executive Director.  Jennifer officially stepped into her new role on January 1, 2020.

Jennifer is a bay area native, mom of two young children, and aware of the growing needs of the community.

“My focus as executive director is sustaining and cultivating our quality early care and education programs, resources, and services for children and families. I envision supporting SOMACC to continue evolving to meet the emerging needs of our community,”

Jennifer has more than a decade of early care and education experience, including the last six years as SOMACC’s Human Resources Manager.  As a member of the administrative team, she has played key roles in all facets of our organization, including early care and education programming, teacher development and training, day-to-day operation, finance, legal issues and human resources.  She is very passionate about the services SOMACC provides, and in her new role, she will continue to be dedicated to carry on SOMACC’s mission which is “to serve children, their families and the South of Market community by providing quality early childhood education and free comprehensive family support services in a safe and nurturing environment.”

Jennifer will lead the operation of SOMACC's three schools, namely, the Yerba Buena Gardens Child Development Center, Judith Baker Child Development Center, and the newly opened Transbay Child Development Center, as well as the South of Market Family Resource Center.

Please join us in congratulating Jennifer and wishing her the best in her new role.
