SAMANTHA LEO, Chairperson

As Director of Philanthropy at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Samantha Leo leads a staff of 35 responsible for raising funds to advance SFMOMA’s mission: to share the art of our time with passion and purpose. Samantha has spent 20 years working in the cultural sector at organizations, including the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. She joined the SOMACC Board of Directors in April 2018.


MARK JOHNSON, Vice Chairperson

Mark has served on the Board for over nine years. He is an active volunteer in the SOMACC community assisting in special events. Mark is a former parent at the Yerba Buena Gardens Child Development Center.

PAT KILDUFF, Secretary

Pat is a consultant for strategic partnerships and community relations. She is the former Director of External Affairs at the Children's Creativity Museum in the Yerba Buena Gardens. She joined the SOMACC Board of Directors in April 2018. Her experience in nonprofits, marketing, and fundraising make her a great addition to the Board.


 

WENDY AITKEN, Treasurer

Wendy works as an Attorney at the Fremont Group in the SOMA community. Her dedication to our children has been evident through coordinating seasonal events and giving, as well as, ongoing Board financial committee support. She has been a member of the SOMACC Board for over ten years.


VIRGINIA GRANDI

Virginia Grandi joined the SOMACC Board of Directors in April 2017. She is the Executive Director of the Yerba Buena Alliance, a neighborhood organization where SOMACC is located. Virginia has worked with the area's stakeholders to create a sense of community and partnership since 2011. She previously was the Board Liaison and Executive Assistant to Gabriel Metcalf, the President of the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR), one of the region's preeminent think tanks. Her experience in nonprofit organizations, working with complex boards, love for children, and protecting families makes her a great fit at SOMACC.


EMILY GARVIE

Emily Garvie is the parent of two young children who attended Yerba Buena Gardens Child Development Center for five, wonderful years. She currently works in philanthropy, and previously, served as executive director of two arts education nonprofits in San Francisco. Emily believes deeply in SOMACC's approach and serves on the board to contribute to SOMACC's future service to the community. She joined the SOMACC Board of Directors in February 2022.


MIKE SEDER

Mike Seder is the Associate General Manager – Administration for the Moscone Center. He is new to the SOMACC Board in 2022, but not new to the Child Development industry. Prior to joining Moscone, Mike was the Chief Financial Officer for the Los Angeles County Fair Association, a company that managed multiple organizations including the Fairplex Child Development Center.

The public has access to our board meetings. SOMACC Board of Directors include individuals who
represent the community, and SOMACC's financial information is available for public inspection.
