SOMACC will be closed on November 23rd and November 24th in observance of Thanksgiving.
Due to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting on November 11-17, 2023 to be hosted at the Moscone Center, our Yerba Buena Gardens Child Development Center (YBG CDC) location the will be closed from November 15-17, 2023. The SOMA Family Resource Center (FRC) will also be closed but they will be available remotely. Please call 415.820.3508.
Access to YBG CDC and the SOMA FRC will be blocked by a military barrier that will be built on Folsom Street and by the closures between 2nd and 6th Streets (closed to vehicles with limited access for pedestrians).
Our Transbay Child Development Center (TB CDC) location will remain open.
In observance of Veterans Day, SOMACC will be closed on Friday, November 10th.
Our schools and offices will reopen on Monday, November 13th.

Yerba Buena Gardens Festival's 23rd annual Halloween Hoopla returns with spectacular performances and activities for kids under 10 and their adults! The Hoopla grand finale is the popular Halloween Costume Parade with live music – all kids are welcome to join in their best Halloween looks.
Featuring fa-BOO-lous fun with:
– Unique Derique, the hippest clown in town
– Venezuelan Music Project’s ghoul-tastic music
– Coventry & Kaluza’s laughs galore
– Madam Z Palm Reading
– Craft and activity tables from Children’s Creativity Museum, the Museum of African Diaspora and the Mexican Museum
Halloween Hoopla is the place to be for family-friendly frights and delights!
Join us for a free spooky celebration of all things fall! We will have pizza, pumpkin decorating, and other arts and crafts activities for the whole family!

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience to celebrate children’s early language and social-emotional development. Each year Read for the Record brings together millions of adults and children as they read the same book on the same day, building an intergenerational community through reading.
This year’s book selection is With Lots of Love written by Jenny Torres Sanchez and illustrated by André Ceolin.

This year's International ShakeOut Day is October 19th, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home!
At 10:19 am on 10/19, SOMACC students, teachers and staff will join millions of people across California practicing earthquake safety.

October 15 is Global Handwashing Day, a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.
Since it falls on a Sunday this year, SOMACC will be celebrating it on Monday, October 16th.
Join us for our in-person Expressive Arts! We will have Halloween magnet kits available to families and their children to work on at the 280 Beale St. Community Room.
The supplies are limited and will be provided to the first 15 families (one set per family). Frozen pizzas will also be distributed for families to take home.
